Our Indianapolis Chiropractic Clinic Shoots a Cold Laser at Pain
Posted on 2011-11-07 13:21:54
Our Indianapolis chiropractic clinic has been offering cold laser therapy to provide patients with pain relief for some time now, and with great results. It is one of many therapies we use to help people overcome back pain, neck pain, sciatica and even the joint pain and muscle pain associated with fibromyalgia. Lasers give us yet another way to help our patients heal after an injury or from painful conditions they have suffered for years.Wielding Low-Level Lasers for Enhanced Wellness
Many of our patients struggle to overcome pain, not just so they can resume normal activities, but because they truly want to experience total wellness. Chiropractor Dr. Bax helps our patients accomplish this goal with skillful spinal adjustments and other therapies. Cold or low-level laser therapy is one of these very effective, non-invasive techniques that actually help relieve pain and stimulate and accelerate healing at the cellular level.
How does it work? Our chiropractor directs a cold, medical-grade, low-level laser light directly at an injury site. The laser is set to a specific wavelength that penetrates through the skin and deep into the injured muscles, joints, and other tissues. This laser then stimulates the cells it touches to produce more ATP or Adenosinetriphosphate. This chemical actually controls most of the cells’ activities. Therefore, the increased ATP production stimulates healing, reduces inflammation within the cells, and relieves pain. It also increases circulation in the area, which helps the body to accelerate the healing process.
Studies with injured athletes who have used this therapy have shown that low-level lasers can actually shorten injury recovery times so that they spend less time on the sidelines and more time on the field. Here in Dr. Bax’s office, we have helped countless patients get back on the road to pain-free living with this and many other non-invasive, drug-free therapies that help the body use its own healing powers for recovery and full health.

What Can Physical Therapy Do for You?
Posted on 2011-10-12 07:51:54
Are you recovering from a surgical procedure, dealing with a chronic health problem, or getting your body back into good working order after an accident? If any of these situations apply to you, then you could definitely benefit from a thorough, holistically-minded physical therapy (PT) program administered by an experienced Indianapolis chiropractor. The Chiropractic Connection
Physical therapy goes hand-in-hand with our other services. If we correct a spinal misalignment, for instance, we may still need to strengthen your muscles so you can keep standing tall. This falls into the holistic healing philosophy that all parts of the mind and body work together to achieve balance. A series of exercises, customized for your individual state of health, can build up muscles weakened from prolonged bed rest, nerve problems or the everyday desk jobs that tend to keep us sedentary. To help things along, we also prescribe massage or cold laser therapy to invigorate muscle groups, tame inflammation and speed the natural healing process. As your body gets stronger, it becomes better able to cope with a wide variety of ailments. You may find all kinds of aches and pains diminishing as you achiever a higher state of overall wellness.
Bear one thing in mind, though -- feeling better does not necessarily mean that you are “done” with your PT program. One of the principles of holistic healing is the commitment to staying well. If you build yourself up just to let yourself go again, you may slide right back into your previous ailments. We want you to feel good all the time -- and we would wager that you do too. Contact our office and let Dr. Bax set you on a new course that could pay dividends for life.

Indianapolis Chiropractor Finds Applied Kinesiology a Useful Diagnostic Tool
Posted on 2011-09-21 10:52:16
Sometimes you have to think beyond traditional practices to reach the root of the problem. That's what Applied Kinesiology (AK) seeks to do with a holistic approach to diagnosing and treating spinal, neck and back pain. Our Indianapolis clinic has added this tool to our arsenal to help us help you live a pain-free life without painful and costly surgery and potentially harmful prescription drugs. Our chiropractor, Dr. Bax is skilled in assisting you create a balance between skeletal alignment, a positive mental attitude and good nutritional health. What is Applied Kinesiology?
Developed in 1964 by Dr. George Goodheart, Applied Kinesiology uses the theory that every organ dysfunction has a corresponding muscle weakness. This approach seeks a balance of the structural, chemical and mental aspects of a person's health. According to the AK principle, having the three areas in balance leads to good health and general well-being.
To access the muscle response, a patient is given a manual muscle test in a targeted area. This isn't a test of strength; rather it's an evaluation of the muscle's tension and response. A poor response can indicate imbalances and stress in a particular area of the body.
At Dr. David Bax Injury and Rehabilitation Center in Indianapolis, we utilize Applied Kinesiology diagnosing the source of your pain or injury. Our chiropractor, Dr. Bax has taken more than 200 hours of coursework in the subject and finds the principle very helpful in understanding the cause of a patient's health problems.
In addition to AK, our chiropractic clinic offers chiropractic care, cold laser therapy, massage therapy, nutrition counseling and physical therapy. We take a total wellness approach to treating your pain by discovering the source of your condition and treating the source.

Improve Your Personal Wellness with Acupuncture
Healers have been using acupuncture for thousands of years to treat many different kinds of injuries and medical conditions. This unique method of healing was developed in Eastern countries like China and Japan.
